Foot care plays an essential role in overall health, especially for diabetics. As part of treatment, podiatrists often debride nails to remove damaged or diseased material. The problem is that traditional tools present a number of health risks to both patient and clinician, including tissue damage, a particular risk for diabetics. When the engineering team […]
Lines at your local pharmacy will be a thing of the past, if ScriptPro (Mission, Kansas) has anything to say about it. The company’s automated prescription dispensing systems can handle everything from tablets and capsules to packages of ointments, offering complete labeling and traceability, along with 99.7% counting accuracy. Leveraging high-efficiency, high-torque motors from MICROMO, […]
A project intended to develop advanced prosthetics for military amputees may ultimately eliminate the need to put military personnel at risk to begin with, if engineers at Telefactor Robotics have their way. The company specializes in advanced robotic vision systems and dexterous manipulation solutions that provide human-like capabilities in remote or otherwise hazardous areas. “Robotic […]
In an increasingly virtual world, the ability to simulate touch provides powerful advantages, for example allowing an online shopper to “feel” a shirt fabric. Enter the discipline of haptics, which involves using robotics with sophisticated feedback and controls to simulate a tactile experience for the user. Haptic device manufacturer Quanser Consulting Inc., for example, produces […]
It started out with a simple question one day during Dr. Rajiv Gupta’s residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH): Why, with CT scanners routinely achieving sub-millimeter resolutions, was he still performing manual needle biopsies with only centimeters of accuracy? There had to be a better way. A team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) […]
There was a time telemedicine meant holding a heart-rate monitor up to the phone receiver to play an audible signal. Modern telepresence robots like the RP-Vita from InTouch Health do more than put a patient’s diagnostic information in the hands of an offsite doctor, they create a virtual presence that allows physician and patient alike […]
The human body can be as much as 85% water. Small wonder, then, that one of the first lines of treatment for trauma patients like wounded soldiers is controlled fluid replacement, often at high volumes. The problem is that conventional infusion pumps are typically designed to deliver small amounts of fluids at high accuracies—100 mL […]

MICROMO represents PiezoMotor AB products in North America and partners closely with the PiezoMotor team to offer piezo motor solutions to the OEM market. Piezo motors are just one of many custom motion solutions offered by MICROMO.
MICROMO introduces the latest FAULHABER Linear DC Servomotor based on QUICKSHAFT® technology. The LM 0830, an 8 mm powerhouse with peak force up to 2.74 N. It is ideal where high precision linear movement in the most compact dimensions is vital in applications such as medical imaging and diagnostic systems, lab automation and a variety of robotics. The series also features the LM 1247 and LM 2070.
Walking Principle Piezo LEGS® Linear
The compact LR 17 is a mere 17 mm in diameter and has all the benefits coming from the Piezo LEGS technology. The stall torque from the motor is 30 mNm, which is high compared to its small size. Because of the self-locking feature of the friction drive, the motor can hold position without consuming any power. The integrated 15 bit magnetic absolute encoder gives a closed loop resolution of 0.2 milli-radians (0.01º).
Motion Solutions for Diverse Markets
For over 50 years, MICROMO has provided the widest range of high quality rotary and linear custom motion solutions to markets such as medical, defense and robotics.
The series offers high reliability, high torque and rugged performance for complex applications in industries such as robotics, medical devices and aerospace/defense. The motors can be used in combination with encoders and gearheads, and options are available for speed and motion controllers as well.
